Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Astral website, applications, and related services (collectively, the “Service”) operated by Astral (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account, browsing courses, purchasing content, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian’s permission. By using the Service you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
2. Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information and promptly update it. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe are compromised.
3. Roles: Students and Teachers
- Students may browse, purchase, and access courses, leave reviews, and download certificates where offered.
- Teachers may create, publish, and sell courses, subject to our content guidelines and approval processes. Teachers represent that they own or have all necessary rights to the content they upload.
4. Course content and license
When you purchase a course, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and view that course for your personal, non-commercial educational use. You may not copy, redistribute, resell, or publicly perform course materials unless expressly permitted. Teachers retain ownership of their original content, subject to the license they grant us to host, display, and distribute it on the Service.
5. Payments, fees, and refunds
Prices are shown in the currency indicated at checkout. Payment is processed by third-party providers (e.g. Stripe, PayPal). Platform fees may apply to teacher earnings as disclosed in the teacher dashboard. Unless a specific course states otherwise, students may request a refund within 30 days of purchase if less than a substantial portion of the course has been consumed, subject to our refund policy. Chargebacks and payment disputes may result in account suspension.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload illegal, infringing, defamatory, or harmful content
- Harass, threaten, or exploit other users
- Scrape, reverse-engineer, or abuse the Service or its APIs
- Circumvent payment, access, or security controls
- Use the Service for unauthorized commercial purposes
7. Intellectual property
The Astral name, logos, UI, and platform software are our property. Course content remains the property of the respective teachers or rights holders. Feedback you provide may be used by us without obligation to you.
8. Disclaimers
The Service and all courses are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee specific learning outcomes, career results, or uninterrupted availability.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Astral and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars (USD $100).
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Astral from claims arising out of your content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for any reason, including violation of these Terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, and liability limits) will survive termination.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via the Service or email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Astral is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Courts in that jurisdiction shall have exclusive venue, except where consumer protection laws require otherwise.
